Let me start by saying I hate cleaning and I’m sure that I am not the only one. Cleaning a bathroom, in particular, can be a painstaking exercise that tests your will to live, That’s me being a little dramatic but you get the point. Before I get into the list directly below is a previous article that I wrote to give you ideas of how to create a cleaner bathroom when you are at the bathroom renovation phase (Click Here). These tips below will focus on keeping that bathroom you already have as sparkling as possible.
Tip 1:
One nifty tip is to leave the shower door slightly open when not in use, to reduce the growth of mildew and to help dissipate moisture.
Tip 2:
Toothbrushes and hand towels should be at least three feet from your toilet as bacteria will come in contact with them when you flush your toilet.
Tip 3:
One crazy fact is that you may not know about the bathroom sink is that it is the most contaminated thing inside a bathroom and contains more germs than your toilet seat.
Tip 4:
Once you have commenced cleaning the toilet bowl, put several drops of peppermint essence in the water. It coats the bowl, smells great and keeps the bowl cleaner for longer.
Tip 5:
Cleaning grout can be a tedious task; one trick we recommend is to
spray the grout after a shower using a homemade mixture of bleach:
Dilute the bleach with water – 1 part bleach to 3 parts water.
Bleach is especially good for removing mould and mildew. It kills mould and disinfectants at the same time. It also removes stains and discolourations from white grout. Do not use bleach on coloured grout – it can discolour the grout. Always be careful when using bleach and any other cleaners, never mix cleaning chemicals especially those containing ammonia.
Tip 6:
Keep the toilet bowl ring-free, by pouring 4 cups of white vinegar in it once a month. Let it soak overnight before flushing.

Grout is porous by nature so one way to keep it cleaner for longer is to seal the grout. We often use a product called Sure Seal that comes in an aerosol can that’s easy to install and can be bought from a variety of places around Perth including craft decor.
