External Tiling Corners
December 6, 2015

This page is dedicated to showing you the type of tiling trim we use on the majority of our renovations to help give a better idea of the quality of the finish.

What we use

All the tiling trim we use is WA’s best tiling trim from BATs Trims. It will be either Stainless Steel or Brass depending on the colour or shade finish you are chasing we DO NOT USE plastic trim.

Why we use tiling trim?

The main reason we use tiling trim is to protect the tiled surfaces against chipping and wearing. These trims off a strong protection for your tiled edges from being nicked or cracked from constant use especially on hobs or shower niches.

The other big reasons trim has become more popular is

  • Reduces grout from becoming mouldy
  • Holes of grout falling out due to the tiny gap associated with mitre corners you will get.
  • A white trim against white tiles create a seamless look
  • The options of black, brass and coloured trim can add a feature to your space without having to do anything over the top while matching into your tapware.

Can you mitre the tiles?

We are happy to accommodate any type of finish you would like even mitring tiles. We do not charge any extra for mitring tiles but you must be wary of different types of tiling will have different finishes which do not look the best. An example is new age tiles have what is called a handmade edge finish this finish when mitred looks horrible and very sharp due to its uneven edging another example is thick porcelain tiles often can only be mitred down to a certain size but not all the way which will severely weaken the edge.

What should you pick?

My advice is always to go with a metal trim I have been tiling for over 20 years and they just are safer, longer-lasting and the finish on these metal trims are so much nicer but we are happy to do mitring if you wanted as always you should have what you want for your space. Below are examples of our wonderful bathrooms using trim.
