Cararra - The Marble Tile Trend

October 13, 2017

Carrara is a city and comune in the Province of Massa and Carrara, notable for the white or blue-grey marble quarried there. Why did you need to know this? Well, you didn't but I thought you should just in case you wondered why I kept using the word, Carrara. When I first started in tiling I always assumed it meant marble in Italian just because every marble tile we laid was called this.

I'll keep it short. This tile is timeless, you get different variations and patterns but the core style is beautiful. Perth has so many options in going down the route of this tile as you can see below in bathroom renovations completed in Willetton, Forrestfield, Henley Brook and Kelmscott they can be done in a variety of different ways. It looks best done from floor to ceiling but you can break it up with a darker floor if you want something a little more serviceable.

The bathroom renovation above in Willetton breaks up the marble with a 600mm x 600mm slate grey floor and rose gold fitting

This Forrestfield bathroom renovation used a tile Called Silver Carrara Travertine and has a really beautiful natural pattern.

Bathroom above located in Kelmscott, Western Australia used the Carrara floor to ceiling allowing for a larger feel to the bathroom. When you don't break up the floor and wall it feels bigger.

Finally, we have this Henley Brook Bathroom renovation. Lindsay and Bev used a timber grey modern floor tile to break up the classic with modern.

Carrara or Marble look tiles are one of the 5 safest bathroom tiles you can use. You will always find plenty of options which sometimes can be frustrating as you can obsess on the pattern. What is timeless about this style is natural toning feels warm and familiar which makes it feel special. Done with the right accessories your bathroom will look like a million dollars without hopefully spending it.
