My Tip For A Tight Bathroom Renovation

October 20, 2017

Bathroom renovations are not cheap but do they need to be expensive with budgets sometimes blowing out great planning is important. My father who started our bathroom renovation business in Perth WA many moons ago always taught me that renovations are 90% Planning and 10% Actual Production, if the planning is done right the rest of the renovation should run smooth. Sometimes we cant afford the Ritz of bathroom items but if you can distract people from the more moderately priced items in the room with something that has a wow factor you can save your self thousands on upgrading every item. My big tip is features.

Tiling can be the biggest feature in a room and it does not need to cost you a fortune. Check out our post on 3 Budget Tricks For Tiling

A pre made wood grain vanity or a large handles can overlook a non custom made finish. The loudest item draws your eyes and adds a expensive taste without the high budget. This Perth bathroom renovation below uses our new Charcoal wood grain vanity finishes to pop the white room

Have you got a high bathroom ceiling? Find the biggest pendant light your electrician can lift and fill the bathroom with an object so demanding of attention that it develops a personality of its own.

You’ll find it gives your bathroom a real designer edge and detracts from the cheaper elements in the space. Below is an example of bathroom we completed in Shelley, Western Australia that uses ecaustic tiles. En-caustic tiles have come down massively in price and high in range.

My personal favourite is to distract the eye with repetition, where you take one design idea and use it several times over in a space. Do you love hexagon tiles? Pick a decorative basin, rounded tapware, a round mirror and towels with a circular pattern. Repetition of a theme will give the space a cohesive, thought-out feel where every design decision is deliberate. Below use all the elements you describe this bathroom renovation in East Perth uses all these elements to create a wow factor.

Running a floor tile up a wall is the best example of this as it adds height and depth to the room like this canning vale bathroom renovation below

We all are trying to save money and your next bathroom renovation is no different. I always try to help my clients get a cheaper bathroom not a cheap bathroom renovation but cheaper as i truly want to help them archive something special as to me a lot effort goes into building a bathroom so why not have something that represents that. Perth has not always been the most affordable place to renovate anything but advice we can give to help we are more than happy to. Be bold and take risks on big features whenever you feel comfortable doing it you will love it more times then not.

Its important to note that all our advice is general in nature and all bathrooms are unique so always speak to your local qualified tradesman for the best advice.
