Concrete basins are perfect for the bathroom renovator looking to be a little different with low risk. I love the look and feel of a concrete basin—I even have one in my own bathroom—but they’re not for everyone, so you’ll need to consider a few things before deciding.
Below I’ll give you a brief idea of what they are and why you might want one in your bathroom.

What Are They?
Put simply, a concrete basin is exactly what it sounds like—a sink made from concrete. But they’re not the rough, grey concrete you see in the driveway. These are handmade, carefully moulded, and then sealed so they’re smooth to the touch and safe for everyday bathroom use. Because they’re made by hand, every single basin turns out a little bit different, which is what makes them so special.

How Do They Look?
Below is a collection of concrete sinks we’ve used, all from the amazing team at NOOD Co. They provide high-quality pieces that not only look great but also last the test of time.

Durability & Maintenance
One of the best things about concrete basins is their strength. When sealed properly, they’re resistant to water and staining, making them practical as well as stylish. Like any natural material, they do require a little care—occasional resealing and gentle cleaning—but the payoff is a product that wears beautifully and develops character as it ages.

Versatility in Design
Concrete basins also come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colours. Whether you’re after a sleek, minimal round bowl or a bold, statement piece in a custom shade, concrete gives you options that fit almost any style of bathroom. Pair them with timber vanities, brushed metal taps, or even coloured cabinetry to create a truly unique look that feels curated and personal.

Final Thoughts
Concrete sinks and basins are perfect for someone looking for something a little different in their space. As we move into a world of highly unique and individual bathrooms, these pieces are one of my favourite ways to incorporate personality and individuality. The best part is, if you decide later that the look isn’t for you, basins are one of the easiest bathroom items to swap out.
