Strip/Linear/Channel Shower Drain Advice
December 15, 2017

So we call it a Strip drain but that is just one of the many names that the long Channel drain has depending on where you are in the world. Over the past 10 years, it has become quite a popular drain in the bathroom renovations coinciding with a rise in walk-in wet room showers. Most bathroom renovations we do in Perth that have a fixed panel shower screen may have the linear drain but what you have to decide is do you actually need it. Below we will present you the pros and cons of this shower strip drain.

To summarise strip drains are a fantastic addition to a bathroom that requires a high degree of drainage. It’s best to use them in wet rooms or walk-in showers when you often have large tiles and require maximum fall to one centre. If you have a 900mm x 900mm shower and a corner screen hinged door I would never recommend them as for the work required and the expense to buy them it is, in my opinion, is not needed.

Last Tip – Do not and I say do not lose the hook tool that comes with them as it is the best thing to remove the grate.
